The Bruised Banana

“The Bruised Banana” Jacket 🤜 🍌 🧥

This was an old (1950s?) deerskin jacket I picked up for nearly free a couple of years ago, that I couldn’t bear to see thrown away. The leather is so soft, but was covered in permanent mildew stains and frankly smelled like it.

A few weeks ago I re-discovered it hanging in our guest room closet and decided it was time. I knew I wanted to paint something on it, but the moment of inspiration hit when I realized it looked like a bruised banana! Of course, I’d cover it in bananas!!! So yesterday, on my day off, I spent the whole afternoon cleaning and painting it. (Even got the worst of the smell out of it. 👃)

And now I’m obsessed. 🤩
